Chevrolet Company has developed 9-step automatics

Chevrolet brand has presented their new 9-step automatic transmission in early December. It will debut in Malibu sedan of 2017 model year. Malibu Sedan with a new transmission spends 7.13 liters per 100 km on the road that is 0.22 liters less than the same car, but with a six-band automatic. GM Hydra-Matic 9T50 transmission has a ratio coverage 7.6 (from 4.69: 1 at the first to 0.62: 1 at the ninth), while the six-speed predecessor, had the 6.0 point.

The distinguishing trait of the new unit is a selective clutch, which can disable the transmission from the engine and work in run-down mode. In addition, the gearbox and interwork of steps inside of it was revised and reduced almost to the size of a six-speed automatic.

The new transmission is also supplied by start/stop option. The hydraulic system with electronic control has got oil buffer in the valve package’s cap, and Dexron-VI blow does not require a replacement under normal conditions. Dan Nicholson, vice president, said that by the end of 2017, the Chevrolet would offer four models with the new 9-step automatic transmission. It allows the cars to increase their efficiency and improve the dynamics.
