The five-door Chevrolet Cruze Hatch will make Americans day

A hatchback manufactured specially for the Detroit auto show has completed Chevrolet Cruze family of the second-generation. The novelty with Hatch prefix has got changes in the rear body from a sedan made its debut in June 2015. The 2700 mm wheelbase is the same. The motor didn’t change too. It’s about 1.4-liter turbo with a direct-injection and the start/stop technology (154 hp and 240 Nm), mated with a six-speed “mechanics” and “automatic”.

Cruze five-door’s equipment doesn’t differs from the sedan and includes a traffic lane assistant, mirror blind spot control, rear cross traffic alert and forward front collision warning. The manufacturer believes this technical set is a powerful argument against rivals in this segment, and focuses on the fact that the Cruze is a global model.

Like the sedan, the new hatchback has got the McPherson front suspension, and rear torsion beam of minor versions. It is replaced by Z-link suspension with Watt’s mechanism in the Premier package. The bigger percent of high-strength steel used for making car’s body and the new unit allowed Chevrolet Cruze Hatch to lose 91 kg of unladen weight. The car will go for sale in autumn 2016 in USA.
