General Motors announced the recall of about 220 thousand cars

American automaker General Motors is recalling about 220 000 cars from the world market.
The reason of the massive recall was malfunction of the electronic parking brake.
Service action affects 221,558 sedans Cadillac XTS models 2013 and 2014 and Chevrolet Impala 2014-2015 model years.
Of these, 205 309 vehicles were sold in the US, and the rest have been implemented in other countries.

The defect is that the handbrake indicator sometimes lights up when the brake is not fully retracted. “If the vehicle is operated for a long time in this state, the rear brakes may become hot, smoke and sparkle,” – said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration USA.

At General Motors announced that they were not aware of any incidents caused by malfunction.
