Chevrolet Corvette is prepared for endurance races

Chevrolet has at the Motor Show in Detroit unveiled the racing version of the Corvette supercar of the new generation, which was called C7.R. The debut model in the competition will be held in late January on a daily marathon Rolex 24 at Daytona racetrack. In the future, a model plan to put on a series of endurance races, including Le Mans marathon.
The model is based on the track version of Corvette – Z06 – and shares the aluminum frame made Chevrolet. In the manufacture of racing modifications Chevrolet used a number of advanced technologies, such as laser welding. The automaker said that the new items on the chassis 40 percent stiffer than its predecessor, called C6.R.

Racing Corvette is equipped with engine with direct injection, which “divides technology” with Z06. Engine capacity is 5.5 liters, which is governed by the rules of racing. The automaker said that the unit with direct injection on the Chevrolet racing car of this class will be used for the first time since 2009. Such a solution will improve fuel economy by three percent.
Coupe Corvette C7.R also received a number of details that allow you to improve the aerodynamic properties of the model and to optimize the cooling of some nodes. It is, in particular, splitter on the front bumper, the shape of the rapids, big wing on the trunk lid, the vent on the hood, as well as the slot in the front and rear fenders that facilitate the flow of air to the brakes.

Corvette Z06 also debuted at the Detroit Auto Show. This version has become the most powerful Corvette in the history of the brand. It is equipped with a 6.2-liter “eight” with a mechanical supercharger Eaton, developing 625 horsepower and 861 Nm of torque.
